INDIE ALT ROCK BAND EDISUN RELEASE "VAMPIRES AND WOLVES" LYRIC VIDEO; TWILIGHT MOVIE-INSPIRED BALLAD SET TO CINEMATIC VIEWS OF NEW YORK CITY

Edisun Vocalist Discusses Newly Released Vampires and Wolves Lyric Video

"Vampires and Wolves" is the brand new lyric video from alt-rock indie band Edisun. A lush cinematic setting beautifully captures the melancholy feel of the song that Ethan Isaac, the band's vocalist and lyricist, describes as a tragic love song set in New York City. The song is contained on the Edisun "Collision" album that is available on Apple Music, Apple iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and other retail/streaming outlets from Factory Underground Records, with digital distribution by ILS/Caroline/Universal Music Group International.

The "Vampires and Wolves" title was inspired by the mayhem surrounding the Twilight movie, explains Edisun's vocalist and lyricist Ethan Isaac: "I had been sitting in an airport flying back from the Middle East; I was watching a news story about the actress (Kristen Stewart) from Twilight and the insanity surrounding her at the time... the paparazzi chasing after her. From there it became a love story in my head about two people impossibly trying to escape the limelight, holding on to some shred of privacy away from the constant glare of the camera."

Ethan Isaac of Edisun

About the lyric video, Ethan continues: "We didn't want to be so literal with this lyric video- we just wanted to capture the mood of New York City in October. In the time that I lived there, it was always October that I loved most--the brilliant fall leaves tearing up the sky."

"The video was the work of an incredible young videographer we have working at the Factory Underground - Nick Swanson. I told him I just wanted to get the mood right, and then I left it up to Nick to bring the lyrics to life- I love song lyrics that are open enough for people to form their own stories in their minds."

For listeners more familiar with the active rock sound of Edisun songs "Medicate" and "Wide Awake," Vampires and Wolves is an interesting if unexpected acoustic departure. The simple arrangement--consisting of acoustic guitar and harmony vocals, snare drum brush strokes keeping the song moving, and touches of slide guitar in the middle bridge.

Edisun

"Actually we have always had softer songs on our records, songs that didn't get played on rock radio, but still represent the band our true fans know. I never want to be a band that plays the same formulaic song over and over. I don't consider a song like "Vampires and Wolves" taking a big chance for rock band like Edisun. I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, a band that went from Black Dog to Going to California. That had a huge influence on me--the diversity of their incredible sound."

"Vampires and Wolves" has been released to Edisun's band You Tube channel. Releases to Vevo and Facebook are expected soon.

FNX SHOWS HOMETOWN LOVE FOR NORWALK: CHARITY FOOD DRIVE AND BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SMASHES DONATION GOAL

600 CANNED FOOD ITEMS DONATED TO PERSON-TO-PERSON
FOOD BANK OF NORWALK

EVENT SPONSORED BY FACTORY UNDERGROUND,
JOEL'S BARBER LOUNGE AND ACTION FITNESS (NEW HAVEN)

The first annual Hometown Love charity canned food drive and basketball tournament was a smashing success, thanks to our sponsor-partners Joe's Barber Lounge of Norwalk, Ct and Team Action Fitness of New Haven, Ct, and last but certainly not least our very own FNX, a rapper whose song "Hometown Love" inspired the event co-produced by Factory Underground Records. The event was held on the grounds of the George Washington Carver Foundation's home center ay 7 Academy Street in Norwalk on June 26, 2016. The goal of the event was to raise 500 canned goods and non-perishable food items to be donated to Person-to-Person Food Bank of Norwalk. The event, which consisted of a basketball tournament and barbecue cookout met the goal with flying colors, with a final tally of 600 cans of food by the day's end.

"The idea started with the title of my song "Hometown Love," and with the help of my publicist Marc Alan of Factory Underground Records, it all grew from there," said FNX. "We wanted to have an event that would be fun for the community, and bring people together around the cause of helping other people. Person-to-Person is such an important resource for underserved families of our community, it was a joy to be able to help them through this event. It was also one major charity helping another in the community--I have to say that we couldn't have done this without the George Washington Carver Center--they really came to play ball with us."

"I have to give it to Joel's Barber Lounge of Norwalk for their invaluable contributions. They organized the actual tournament, recruited the teams, hired the referees; it was a very professional operation. Seeing all of the players wearing "Hometown Love" basketball shirts in different team-colors was very inspiring, not to mention the incredible skill of the players who turned out from all over Fairfield County," FNX said.

FNX is a rapper of considerable skill and personal style, but one who is proving worth far beyond the measure of his market share, streaming numbers, and sales on iTunes. The musician isn't waiting for any level of commercial break-through to give back to his community. An alumni of the George Washington Carver Center, who credits the organization with keeping him off the streets as a young man growing up in Norwalk, Ct, the young man who would become known as FNX went on to graduate with honors from Brian McMahon High School (Norwalk), achieving a Bachelors degree of Business from University of Southern Connecticut, and a Masters degree of Business and Organizational Leadership from the University of New Hampshire. An unusual pedigree for a rapper in today's hip hop music scene, but then as "Hometown Love" shows FNX is no ordinary rapper.

"Working with the Carver on this level was in many ways my life coming full circle. I grew up at the Carver, and it helped shape me into the man that I am. So it is very important for me to advocated for the Carver, and be a role model for the children there today. I want them to know what education can do to change their lives. I want them to say to themselves, "If FNX did it, then I can do it too."

After only three days on the site, Che-Val tracks downloads have skyrocketed with all signs pointing toward massive growth potential. "This is very exciting for us," said Laura Cash. "I come from a dance-music background, and Kenny is an incredible remixer himself - for DJs and other remixers around the world to be adding our songs to their collections, that's a huge feeling of accomplishment for us."

"We feel like the next piece of our process is to start collaborating with other artists and DJs. We want to hear their interpretation of our music. It’s like hearing a story you love from a completely different perspective. It opens your eyes and ears to something entirely new and inspiring and takes you somewhere you may have never planned," Kenny says.

Kenny Cash, whose music career started in the practice halls of Berklee College of Music where he attended on a full scholarship, had already established a diverse catalog of recorded material by the time he met Laura, an artist who came to record at his Norwalk, Ct Factory Underground Studio. "When we first started dating--Kenny said, "Just so you know, my music is always going to come first!  I laughed but I really respected that. It's what we had in common. It struck me how creative and dedicated he was to his music, and it was a perfect mix from the beginning." The two were married in 2011.

The couple's album "Waterproof" is their first record under the name Che-Val, which was inspired by an over-sized framed mirror the couple fell in love with early in their relationship. "We had been writing and recording material that was a mix of Kenny's growing interest in mixing electronic textures with organic orchestral instruments. I found that mix of styles really worked with the songs I was writing."

PRESENTED BY NORWALK ARTIST FNX WITH FACTORY UNDERGROUND STUDIO & GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER FOUNDATION

ADDITIONAL SPONSORS TO INCLUDE JOEL’S BARBER LOUNGE; GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN NOW LIVE TO COVER EVENT PRODUCTION COST

Norwalk recording artist FNX (pronounced Phoenix), in association with Factory Underground Studio and the George Washington Carver Foundation is proud to announce the “Hometown Love” Food Drive. This event will be taking place on Sunday, June 26 from 11am to 6pm at the Carver Community Center (7 Academy St., Norwalk, Ct). In addition to the goal of raising 500 canned food times to be donated to the Person-to-Person Food Bank, there will also be a BBQ cook-out, 5-on-5 basketball tournament, raffle, and music by DJ Connect.

Leading up to the event there is a GoFundMe campaign being run in order to cover the costs associated with the event, including food and drink, t-shirts for tournament participants, and a referee. These donations are being accepted on a rolling basis and any money raised above and beyond actual costs will go directly to Person-to-Person.

Faced with childhood homelessness, surviving abusive experiences in a shelter with his young mother, FNX found solace in music and the nurturing environment of the Carver Center, which is one of the largest providers of after school programs in Norwalk – serving up to one thousand children daily. Now, armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the Southern Connecticut State University and a Master’s Degree of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University, things have come full circle for this artist through his work as an official advocate of the center. “Working with these kids is important for me because I am one of them. It’s a chance for me to show them what music and education can do. I want them to say, ‘If FNX did it, I can do it too.’”

This event serves not just to give back to the community in a tangible way, through monetary and food donations, but also by offering a day of family fun for anyone who needs a little “hometown love.” Music, food, sports, and more will all come together to celebrate the Norwalk community.

The 5-on-5 basketball tournament has an age requirement of 16 or older. The entry fee is $250 per team, which includes an event shirt for all members with a cash prize awarded to the winning team. FNX DEBUT SINGLE "RUBBER BANDS" WORLD WIDE RELEASE MAY 30: NEW ARIST HONORS HIP HOP CULTURE WHILE BREAKING DOWN STEREOTYPES

FNX "RUBBER BANDS" DEBUT SINGLE

WORLD WIDE RELEASE

MAY 30, 2016

NEW ARTIST HONORS HIP HOP CULTURE WHILE BREAKING DOWN STEREOTYPES

FNX is a rapper and hip hop artist of unique style and origin. At the core of his music is a story of perseverance and positivity; overcoming life obstacles amidst a journey of self-discovery. He was born Kenneth Shuler of Norwalk, Ct--long before would he would turn to music as an outlet for his teen anger and depression. Faced with childhood homelessness, surviving abusive experiences in a shelter with his young mother, the at-risk teen found solace and self-awareness in rhyme. Yet with so much of rap culture based on boasting and bravado, there aren’t many other rappers of such humble beginnings that could boast of a Bachelor Business Degree from the Southern Connecticut State University and a Master’s Degree of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. FNX is an artist unlike many of his peers.

Distinguishing himself early as a rapper of technical skill and lyrical intelligence under the adopted stage name Symon Feenixxx, his early work “Young Black Males” garnered the attention of industry veterans. That early persona, adopted from the 1993 film Demolition Man, was reminiscent of rappers Ghostface Killah and Method Man, whose own names were inspired by comic book and movie characters. “I took on the name [alias Simon Phoenix from the movie Demolition Man] because Phoenix was a villain who was ruthless and vulgar – which was my approach when I first got heavily into writing my own music,” said Shuler. Finding the persona limiting however, the maturing artist thus found the need for a new name to define his growing artistry.  With this came “FNX,” pronounced “Phoenix,” which he identifies as a sharp turning point in his life and career.

Yet even with a more focused handle on his music, the artist found himself facing unexpected challenges. When asked to write a song to promote a friend’s health club, which he happily agreed to do, he became very aware of how reliant he was on using curse words in his rhymes, including the obvious use of the “N Word” so often used in hip hop culture. Rising to this challenge, however, he completed the song “Pushing Heavyweight,” which FNX fans can expect to hear on his first full album in Fall 2016.

Now embracing his ability to rap authentically in a style free of profanity, shedding another stereotype of hip hop culture in the process, FNX hope this will allow his music to positively impact on listeners of all ages. This change in style will be heard in his new song “Rubber Bands,” that will be the first single released worldwide by FNX on May 30, 2016, in association with Factory Underground Records.

Yet even as his own personal phoenix rises from the ashes of his poverty stricken beginnings, FNX has his eyes set firmly on goals that go far beyond hip hop music. An advocate for the George Washington Carver Foundation of Norwalk, which he credits with keeping him off the streets and pushing him to graduate from high school with honors, FNX isn’t waiting for musical success to give back to the community.  “For me the music is a vehicle-- it’s the message that is important to get out there,” he says. That message, one hip hop fans may also find surprising, as yet another stereotype of the culture is discarded, is financial literacy.

“There is so much flaunting of money in hip hop imagery,” he say. “Making paper, acquiring wealth and showing it off. This what we are teaching our kids in the so-called underserved, inner city communities. Who is teaching them how to take care of their money, how to stay out of debt, how to stay clear of crime, and not go to jail?  Questions like these have helped fuel an educational course in financial literacy FNX started teaching in 2015, which he hopes to expand at the Carver Center to include working with children and families in the community.

In many ways, working with the Carver Center, one of the largest providers of after school programs in Norwalk--serving up to one thousand children daily--is FNX coming full circle in his life. “Working with these kids is important for me because I am one of them. It’s a chance for me to show them what music and education can do. I want them to say, “If FNX did it, I can do it too.”
